Imperius, in his rage and humiliated by his defeat, ignored her and struck Diablo and the pillar in half. Auriel proposed the imprisonment of the demon within the cave, as killing Diablo outright would only allow he to be reincarnated in the Burning Hells. However, the combined might of the Council was able to quickly subdue the demon, and chained him to a pillar in the underground cavern.
When Tyrael and the rest of the Council reached him, he had been heavily injured by Diablo. Imperius, the brash leader of the Angiris Council and the Archangel of Valor, charged ahead of the safety of his forces to engage Diablo directly. The Council was eager to defeat the Prime Evil, and gain themselves a major advantage in the ongoing war. Tyrael sought to uphold his virtue of justice within the High Heavens among his comrades.ĭuring one engagement between the forces of Heaven and Hell, the Angiris Council assaulted a stronghold on the world of Pandemonium, against a host of demon forces led by the Prime Evil Diablo. He served the Courts of Justice while out of combat, and on the Angiris Council with four other Archangels that most exemplified the virtues of Anu, the first being in Creation. His exploits in the conflict became the stuff of legends. This is where the Archangel Tyrael’s story begins. Though one side or the other has temporarily gained advantage, neither side can nor will ever triumph.
